15 oktober Red Sauce On Pasta13 oktober The Great EscapeMan I love this song!
Paper bags & plastic hearts
All are belongings in shopping carts It's goodbye, But we got one more night Let's get drunk and drive around & make peace with an empty town We can make it right Throw it away Forget yesterday We'll make the great escape We won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Watch it burn Let it die Cause we are finally free tonight Tonight will change our lives It's so good to be by your side But we'll cry We won't give up the fight We'll scream loud at the top of our lungs & they'll think it's just cause we're young & we'll feel so alive Throw it away Forget yesterday We'll make the great escape We won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Watch it burn Let it die Cause we are finally free tonight All of the wasted time The hours that were left behind The answers that we'll never find They don't mean a thing tonight Throw it away Forget yesterday We'll make the great escape We won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Throw it away Forget yesterday We'll make the great escape We won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Throw it away Forget yesterday We'll make the great escape We won't hear a word they say They don't know us anyway Watch it burn Let it die Cause we are finally free tonight 12 oktober Programmers At LunchWondered how is it like to be at lunch with a group of programmers?
One day, my lunch went like this:
(On the lunch table, in a kopitiam in Radin Mas...)
R: Hey I read up on RAM limitation and understood why most PC support only up to 2GB of RAM.
Z: Huh? Due to motherboard limitation?
R: No. Due to physical memory...
Me: How come? R: I visited lots of websites to understand more about RAM. And found that all along my assumption that physical memory is equavilent to RAM is wrong! No wonder I was so confused when I was reading the materials about physical memory...
Me: What do you mean?
R: That RAM only makes up one part of the physical memory! The rest of physical memory includes video memory, memory reserved for OS etc...
(And goes on explaining why a 32 bit processor can support only up to 2GB of RAM...)
(And then the topic jumps into 32 bit OS...)
Me: Then why are 64 bit processors not popular? If a 32 bit processor limits RAM to 2GB, then the solution to get more RAM should be to use a 64 bit processor! In fact, 64 bit processors were out for some time , yet WIN XP supports only 32 bit...
R: Vista has 64 bit version, but expects lots of teething problems now. The 32 bit Vista is more widely used, but even that has many reports on lack of support from vendors and software makers.
Z: Hmm.. that reminds me of my experience with the first PC I owned, a 486 XT...
R: Wow your first PC was a 486 huh? Mine was a Pentium I, which means I bought my first PC way after you got your first...
Me: My first was a 486 too...
(And it goes on with us talking about our old PCs specs, WIN 3.1, the old games we played etc...)
Lost you halfway? Did you fell asleep already?
Well, we programmers don't talk about tech during every lunch. But when we do we could do it quite feverntly! =)
Does topics like the above bores you?
But for me, I found it extremely interesting. It reminds me on how much I enjoy my everyday work now... =)
